Wedding Parade in Canal Grande

In 2025 Lauren Sánchez and Jeff P. Bezos, founder of Amazon, married in Venice. The three-day celebration drew protests and international media attention, and brought back into view the city’s long struggle with overtourism and with being sold as an image: a stage for ceremony, wealth and the display of power.

The scene shows the couple’s parade on the Grand Canal, escorted by private security, police and paparazzi. It is composed in the manner of the 18th-century Venetian vedute, the paintings that first turned the city into a reproducible picture. Placing a contemporary spectacle inside that historical frame, the work moves between documentation and invention.

Issued as a special edition art puzzle, part anniversary gift and part collectible, the image is taken apart and rebuilt by whoever puts it back together, piece by piece.
